Last week, the INFINITE project hosted its first training for trainees, focusing on organic semiconductors and their role in future electronic applications. The training took place at IAPP Dresden, bringing together vocational education and cutting-edge research.
Designed for trainees preparing for technical careers, the programme was curated by the team around Sebastian Schellhammer. It combined an introductory lecture with guided lab tours, offering participants insights into the materials, methods, and challenges behind organic semiconductors. Topics included OLED technologies, their fabrication processes, and the specialised equipment used in research laboratories.
The training highlighted both the opportunities and challenges of connecting research and vocational education. Finding a shared language between theory and practice is not always easy — a point also reflected in the participant feedback. At the same time, all trainees said they would recommend the training, underlining the strong interest in hands-on, future-oriented topics.
For the INFINITE consortium, this feedback is motivating. It confirms the value of bringing trainees closer to emerging technologies and encourages us to continue refining and expanding these training formats. We’re looking forward to building on this experience and further strengthening the link between research expertise and vocational education.
