INFINITE aims to address the industry’s training needs in printed, flexible, and organic electronics. To further this goal, at this year’s LOPEC trade fair, we brought together six industry professionals and two representatives from the education sector to form a working group and discuss INFINITE’s most pressing question:
What is the ideal profile of a qualified worker in printed, flexible, and organic electronics, and how can it be approached from an educational perspective?
Although the participants came from Finland, Germany, and Spain, they quickly agreed on the fundamental skills required: motivation, communication abilities, and a genuine interest in the field. The level of formal education was not considered a limiting factor, as long as candidates demonstrated a willingness to learn new things. However, a deep understanding of a core field, such as printing or electronics, combined with basic knowledge of related disciplines was deemed essential, specially to have a common language that facilitates communication among colleagues.
The multidisciplinary nature of printed, flexible, and organic electronics presents challenges in meeting industry demands. However, INFINITE is committed to addressing this challenge by developing curricula tailored to these needs. The goal is to gradually bridge the existing gap between industry and education, ensuring a more seamless integration of skilled professionals into the workforce.
