A few weeks ago our Latvian partners LETERA, together with Riga Technical University (RTU) and the RTU Robotics Club, organised the Electronics and Robotics Day in Riga with more than 300 visitors. The event aims to promote the field of electronics among young people, develop technical knowledge and play around with electronics and robotics. Further, it was an opportunity for teachers involved in technical creativity clubs to exchange ideas and attend workshops on AI, IT and technical education. Youngsters aged 6 to 18 took part in the competitions Young Electronics Engineer 2025 and the national robotics championship. The atmosphere was energetic and focused on encouraging young people to discover their interest in technology.
“Events where youngsters can get hands-on experience are a great opportunity to spark their interest. It raises the chance that they will one day decide to pursue a career in electronics.”, shared Inese Berga, Executive Director of LETERA. After all, if young people don’t get exposed to these topics early, they’re less likely to consider them later. One idea for future editions: how can we better engage girls in these activities? Thanks to the Latvian team for showing us how outreach can be both fun and strategic.
